History: Canon History

Near the climax of the events of Next Avengers, while watching his sister fly off into space and knowing there was a real chance she'd never come back, James simply closed his eyes for a single second... and found himself waking up in a pod full of liquid with a tube shoved down his throat. This was his first jump, his first time stepping foot on that damn ship that traveled the universe snatching people from space and time and trapping them in a horror-filled mystery ship with a bit of a death wish.

For a time, he lived month by month on this ship, going through the horrors that were thrown at them by out of control powers, stops at random planets, and things that just didn't make much sense. He met a Tony Stark from another universe, younger and way different than his Tony, and became used to the idea that multiple universes existed with different versions of the same people. He met Libby, a girl who taught him to bounce back and make the most of whatever time he has with people. And eventually, Francis showed up on the ship. And together, they decided to take protecting people into their own hands, instead of being seemingly shut-out by the adults on board. Amazingly enough, there were enough younger people on board feeling the same way that they formed their own Avengers team to parallel the one already on board.

Unfortunately, that didn't last long. Because between getting hurled into the Silent Hell that had crept on board and living through nightmares brought to life and the ship losing power and masks changing how people acted, James found himself back home instead of waking up from the next jump. And while he was happy to be back with his siblings and father (the Tony Stark from his universe, not the two on the ship) the Francis he was with back home knew nothing of the ship, and the girl he'd come to - cooties forbid - love... wasn't with him.

Marvel comics are confusing, but this comic story takes place after the events of the Next Avengers film.

After the events of Earth 10943, while standing in the dark and the aftermath of Torunn's storm, Tony and Bruce's bodies still warm and bleeding behind them, James blinked... and found himself back on the ship. Francis was still there, no time having passed between the jumps for him, and Azari would arrive soon after James from the same point. Seeing the Tonys still on the ship, when James' own had died so recently, was hard. But with the support of his team, his family, and the girlfriend he hadn't seen (on his end) for two years, he got used to it. And settled back into the routine he had before leaving Tranquility the first time around. A short while went by, where James simply lived and survived the horrors of the ship and the things happening around them, but eventually he and Libby, while exploring the ship, got trapped away from the rest of the crew when the power seemingly went down. Doors were locked and blockades lowered, communications completely out for a while. And with that came a drop in temperature, a fight for survival as the support systems of the ship seemingly went on the fritz. While James survived it, not too worse for wear, he came back to the living quarters of the ship alone. Libby had died during their time apart from the group, falling asleep in the cold of James' arms, never to wake up again.

Time went on, and while James didn't really get over Libby, he forced himself to adjust to the fact she was dead as well as he could. As well as he'd done with Bruce and Tony before getting thrown into a ship with their duplicates just minutes later. Soon enough, after crawling back into a pod for a jump, James wouldn't exactly return for the next one. But he didn't know that.

Personality:
Legacy (positive)
As much as it stresses him out sometimes, James is proud to carry his parent's legacies on his back. He's proud to live as a symbol, because he knows the remaining people on his Earth need one to follow. He may question himself sometimes and he may find it hard, but he will always go back to being the hero that people need to see.

Leader
As much as James can be a brat and a pain in the ass, when it comes to combat and stressful situations, he's a natural leader. It's easy for him to take charge and organize groups, just as it's easy for him to tell people their wrong and stand in their way in case he needs to. He doesn't feel any shame or qualms about taking charge and being the one to make decisions when the going gets tough.

Inspiration
As much as James hates to admit it, he is his father's son in more ways than one. While he's normally pretty short and quiet when he speaks, if the situation calls for it he can stand in front of others and come up with a heartfelt, inspirational speech at the drop of a hat.

Family First
There is nothing more important to James than his family. His brothers and sister are the only thing he still has in his world, really, and he will do anything to keep them safe. Anything.

Legacy (negative)
Now as great as being Captain America's son is, and as cool as it is having Black Widow as your mother-- there's always another side to having a legacy. And boy does James feel it. He never really got to know his parents, they were killed when he was really little, but James grew up in a huge shadow. Even now, acting as Captain America in his world and in the world he just came from, he still feels like he falls short. After all, how could anyone live up to the original Captain America?

Bratty
Maybe it's a factor of being a teenager, or maybe its because he was raised by Tony Stark, but James is a brat. He always has something to say and always has some sort of attitude about things. And god forbid you try and wake him up before he's ready to get up. He's trying to be a little better about this, but hey. You can only do so much.

Unwanted
More of a factor of his time on the Tranquility than anything else, but James is very aware that sometimes, he's not wanted around. He met his fair share of Tony Starks, Natashas, and Steves from all kinds of universes, and while he had some good interactions with them, he's also been flat out told by a version of his mother that she didn't want to be around him. As such, it's a constant gnawing worry, when he meets people, that he's not actually wanted there. He tends to default to assuming this of people and being pleasantly surprised when they're fine with him being there.

Morally Grey
While on the Tranquility, James put on a mask that ate away at his morality, leaving him permanently changed. As such, he's okay with corporal punishment, even going so far as to not feel any guilt over executing a villain in his canon.

Trauma
To say the least, James is a damaged kid. His world sucks, his parents and most of the heroes were wiped out, he had to take up the mantle of a hero and save the world as a young teenager, and then he experienced countless horrors in the halls of the Tranquility during the time he spent on that ship. He tries not to think about it too much, but with everything he's experienced in his short life, the kid's a bit damaged.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: One month before this app! He's been laying low and gathering information, as well as trying to find his footing after being in the Hell of his world and the Tranquility. Not to mention, but waking up with new abilities is more than a little disorienting.

As for his labyrinth, it could be some combination of a spaceship that perhaps eventually opened into a ruined city as James made his way through it, eventually landing him in Kaisou!

Items: His Captain America uniform, as well as a hard-light shield projector fastened to his left wrist. It is a kind of bracelet/glove combination and can project a shield with physical properties for both defense and the ability to be thrown as a weapon for a short period of time. If this needs to be nerfed, however, that's okay! He's used to the projector being broken, honestly, though if he could at least summon a shield for defense (and not be able to, you know, throw light) that'd be awesome.

Retained Abilities:
While James doesn't have superpowers, both of his parents are genetically enhanced supersoldiers and he exhibits increased strength, speed, and endurance in his canon. As such, it can be assumed that he, like Steve Rogers, is functioning at peak human levels, as he's able to parry and block attacks that would send other humans flying, as well as exhibits agility and acrobatic skills far above those of a normal human. As such, the best Kaisou equivalents for this strength, endurance and agility that I could find are the following:

4 Points - Improved Physical Abilities - Enhanced Bulk - strength, reflexes, endurance, speed.
1 Point - Regeneration - Low - Cuts and bruises heal within a day, more severe injuries heal within a week. can still die from fatal injuries and cannot regrow limbs.
1 Point - Wind - High Jump - Low - Jump slightly higher than normal.
